Master Templated Automated Key

SSA Publication 42-014 · Forms W-2c & W-3c correction file

MTAK · CORRECTIONW-2c / W-3c Key

A byte-for-byte replica of the MTAK key, retooled so the employer can go back in and correct any figure on a W-2 that already posted. Every amount is captured twice — as originally reported and corrected to — and written into 1,024-byte EFW2C records (RCA / RCE / RCW / RCT / RCF). The employer & totals records carry the W-3c summary; the per-employee records are the W-2cs.

Step 1 · Which tax year(s) are you correcting?

A W-2c references the original W-2's tax year. Type the year you're fixing. Enter the same value in both boxes to correct a single year, or a span to lay down a row per year.

Step 2 · Employees & corrected amounts

For each box, the left figure is what was originally reported on the W-2; the right figure is the corrected value. Boxes you aren't changing can be left equal. Box 4 / Box 6 auto-fill from that year's real Social Security & Medicare rates — type over them if the withholding on file differs.

Step 3 · Build the EFW2C file

Leave both password fields blank to download the plain .txt file. Add a password and you'll get a real AES-256 encrypted .zip instead — nobody, including MTAK, can open it without that exact password, and there is no recovery if it's lost. Whoever files it unlocks it first (any standard unzip tool), then submits the plain .txt that comes out, exactly as before.
